Data Collection

We collect filing requirements, fees, deadlines, and penalty information from official state agency websites and published regulatory materials.

Deadline Calculation

We calculate deadlines based on the formation/registration date entered by the user, the state's filing frequency (annual, biennial), and the specific deadline rules for each state. Some states use calendar month filing windows rather than exact dates.

Filing Window vs Exact Deadline

For states like New York that define filing periods by calendar month, we display a filing window rather than a single deadline date. This accurately reflects how the state defines the filing period.

Fee Calculation

State fees are displayed as listed by the official state agency. For states with variable fees (e.g., Wyoming's asset-based tax), we calculate based on user input where available.

Verification

We regularly verify our data against official state sources. Each state page shows the last verification date. Users should always confirm current requirements with the relevant state agency.
